 How To Cope With Bullying  


Bullying is a problem. It affects people, especially kids and teenagers. Bullying hurts a lot of individuals.

It is an issue, for kids and teenagersNumerous negative outcomes, such as:
.  low self-esteem 
. sadness
 . anxiety
. In severe cases, even suicidal thoughts may result from it. 
Although dealing with bullying can be challenging, there are several techniques that can be used to manage the situation and move on healthily.

Step 1: Acknowledge and Take Bullying seriously. 


Many people avoid reporting bullying to a trusted adultbecause they feel embarrassed or ashamed of themselves, or because they fear it will only make it worse. It is important to remember that bullying is never the fault of the person being bullied, and it is always unacceptable behaviour.

Report to a Trusted Adult 


 Reporting bullying to a trusted adult, like a teacher, or school counsellor, and Building a support group is important to do when dealing with bullying. Talking to friends, family members, or a therapist can be a source of emotional support and help deal with your feelings. 

Step 2: Build a Support Network 


Also, for those who have been bullied, finding support groups, or online communities, can be a valuable experience. Finding people who have experienced something similar to you, can make you feel less alone and help you feel validated.

Step 3: Develop Coping Mechanisms 


Having coping mechanisms can  help you address bullying. This may mean practices that can help to relieve stress and anxiety, such as deep breathing, meditation, and physical activity.

 Use positive self-talk and affirmations 


 Developing positive self-talk/affirmations can also be a useful coping mechanism, as affirmations are great for building self-esteem, and can counter attack negative thoughts and beliefs.

Step 4: Protect Yourself from Further Harm 


People also need to take steps to protect themselves from repeat bullying. 

Avoid Unsafe Spaces 


One way to protect yourself from repetition of bullying is to avoid the situations or spaces where bullying is likely to occur (e.g., specific places at school or specific online forums) where bullies tend to gather.

Learn Assertiveness Skills 


 Assertiveness skills such as standing up for yourself or setting limits can also be of value

 People must also keep in mind that dealing with the effects of bullying is a process, and it may take time to move on.

Talking to a therapist or counselor who can help process the bullying may provide individual added support and, direction.
